Dilka Bear is an artist originally from Kazakhstan. After training at Almaty State University, she moved to Trieste in Italy, where show now lives. Her pop-surrealist portraits are inspired by fairytale and storytelling, in particular by Brothers Grimm fairytales, combined with the genre painting and peasant scenes from the Northern Renaissance. She uses these influences to create sinister spaces where her stories unfold visually through a play of animals, toys and childlike figures.
