Thunder Buck Moon
Oil on canvas, 2019
25cm W x 30cm H
The first full moon of the summer was once known to the ancients as the full thunder moon due to July being a month abundant in electrical storms. It was also known as the full buck moon due to the fact that the antlers of male deers are at the height of there growth. This year there was also a rare occurrence where there was a lunar eclipse and a partial blood moon and as a result the moon turned partially red due the earths shadow crossing the moons path.
