In Search of Unseen Things

31 August to 16 September 2005

Overview

Sarah Harvey | Richard Somerville

From a patchwork of photographs, Sarah Harvey paints self portraits bathing in cool emerald waters, creating views of the self as seen through the eyes of another – photographically fixed and technically accurate, but at the same time liquid and mysterious.

In contrast, Richard Somerville’s paintings are of imaginative, intangible spaces, built from layers of cellular structures interwoven with tectonic grids. Resisting being mapped out and defined, his spaces remain organic, sensual – and intriguing.

In search of Unseen Things brings their visually stunning works together as an exploration into the allure of discovery.
