Liane Lang: Whitaker Museum Solo Show
Liane Lang presents her first solo show ‘Touch Stone’ at the Whitaker Museum in Lancashire. The project focuses on human industry and activity in the landscape using materials such as bark, lead and rusty industrial salvage. The show will run from Thursday 14th March to Sunday 26th May.
Liane approaches the history in her work with an eye to deep time and constant change, exploring a unique space between sculpture and photography, drawing together a material, haptic experience and the narrative and time related language of photography.
The show has been curated by The Whitaker’s Creative Director Gaynor Seville. Gaynor commented “We are so excited to feature Liane’s work at The Whitaker. The materials used in the show and the landscapes depicted go hand in hand with the history of The Whitaker and I’m sure our visitors will be blown away by the beauty and intricate nature of Liane’s work.”
Liane has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally including the Royal Academy of Arts and the Saatchi Gallery. In conjunction with the show Liane will be giving an artist talk on Thursday 18th April. Liane will talk about the stories behind the pieces and the making of the work and share images from her other projects and her interest and inspirations.
